SPECIFIC AIMS: This course unit aims to make students understand: - the role of Information Systems (IS) in organisations and the importance of being aligned with organisations strategy; - the concept of Information Systems Architecture (ISA) and its importance within organisations and whether ASI is able to develop the appropriate business strategy. LEARNING OUTCOMES: - to acquire knowledge in business models in digital economy - to be capable of making decisions in IS, chiefly in the area of IS planning and management - to be capable of using IS in the aspects related to business analysis and knowledge management - to understand the concept of Information Systems Architecture (ISA) and its importance within organisations - to be acquainted with some frameworks and their practical application in ISA definition - to be capable of using methods and tools to acquire different architectures involved in ISA (business, data, applications, technology) - to be capable of developing an appropriate ISA to business necessities and strategy - to contact with some trends of application development in order to help the exchange of information and interoperability (XML, Web Services, SOA, etc.)
