Service Engineering and Management Master Program

Network and Systems Security

The security of networks and systems concerns the communication between homogenous systems which are information-interconnected. This problem requires a permanent analysis to prevent informatics attacks. Systems and networks security generates an adequate framework for simulation and testing of communication networks. Informatics attacks against networks are simulated for different communication protocols. Also, natural accidents are simulated, in order to study back-up network solutions. Such simulation experiments provide solutions for the network interconnections optimization. The network study can be performed either by simulating its structure, submitted to various protocols attacks, or by physically testing specific connection points, from the traffic efficiency viewpoint.

Auditing a communication network for critical applications can be performed by simulating informatics attacks and verifying if the network satisfies implementation standards, if it ensures data transmission quality and adequate recovery time in case of equipment failure.

The main objective of the course concerns the improvement of professional education of students and skills creation, by presenting high level information on network communication security threats, on the design and implementing of networks security techniques and methods.
