Service Engineering and Management (SEM) Master Program

Communication Management and Cognitive Psychology

The course provides comprehensive knowledge about communication management methods related to the knowledge and innovation-based organization, their team effectiveness and individual responsibility assessment. Advanced education of employees for activities in managing teams operating Internet and mobile equipment will be taught for professional and managerial aptitude development according to requirements of the information and products services life-cycle and of the e-economy environment.

The major focus concerns student training on how individuals, teams and organizations competitively cooperate in group activities and human-machine interactions for service activities. The course will familiarize the student with methods and techniques of competence and performance management. Psychological processes and cognitive structures in higher level products of thought as well as new forms of thinking such as information thinking, network thinking and strategic thinking will be presented. Students will also learn how to integrate knowledge, communication, motivation and decision abilities in specific managerial skills needed in risk management, organizational change management, invention management and project management. This course will also focus on teaching practical methods of enhancing technical and managerial creativity as well as on explaining innovation strategies to conceive, design, implement and operate complex value-added engineering systems.

Value-creating and value-adding activities supported by knowledge and skill management techniques in technology based services will be presented. Performance management and its crucial importance for common knowledge, value and motivation building in service teams and environment is outlined. The course also explains the concept of organizational culture, its representative values, its structure and functions in the context of a global economy with multi-cultural processes. The value of psychological and social skills for business ecosystem analysis and modelling will be emphasized.
